Internet, it’s not you, it’s me.

Times are crazy and I guess I’m admitting defeat. I can’t keep up with teaching 1200+ children, grade papers, conduct choirs, maintain family life, love life (which has finally begun to bloom some), and whatever the hell else and then do what I want with this blog.

Blogging is fun, but believe it or not it requires dedication if you want to be a serious blogger. I’d love to be that person, but I’m too busy with my day job to do it because I think I failed to make some wise decisions about my time.  There… I admit, quit it, forget it. …and as I write this I’m telling my conscience to shut the hell up. lol

I always say that I’ll be more consistent on here, but responsibilities with an 8am to 8pm job, Monday through Friday and the occasional things that blow my weekend, keeping me from relaxing, resetting and recharge is killer–not counting the work that has increasingly spilled over clock-out time of each day and has to be taken home.  Additionally, there is my schooling two nights a week 6pm to 10pm.  It’s fun at times, but also time consuming.

I stop and look at my past decisions and I ask myself repeatedly, “What the HECK was I thinking?” I think some ad nauseum argument in my subconscious simply hangs in my head on loop, I think, to the point that I get headaches.

When I’m in a better place in this year, or whatever, I really want to get back to the consistency I once was at. ‘Cause when I finally finish my real work each evening, the inspiration, desire, and excitement to blog are zapped by responsibilities and plain old stupid, boring administrative bullshit that lands in my inbox–and I won’t hesitate to tell you that I hate red tape, paperwork, and answering to people, as I’ve been a passive aggressive rebel since childhood with a slick mouth.  My moms can attest to that. But I digress.  Nowadays, I twist my schedule to make time for myself by turning off my email accounts, throwing work in a corner, and sleep, go for a drive, watch a movie, or spend time with friends, other than work.

That’s my update on my life, my frustration, my whatever-ness.

In the meantime, blog ya later!

P.S. Every online project I’ve had going is on hold ’til I get a hold things.

Blog Blog Blog!: Movin’ my stuff.

October 3rd, 2009 View Comments

So, I have finally gotten around to separating my pre-professional work from this blog. iamdavidmoore.com (my “blogfolio”) is going to be ready very soon. Why? Well, this blog is too multi-purposed. It confuses people that come by this blog, the RSS feed is being piped into my Facebook account newsfeed and it confuses my friends, most of which probably don’t even know that Steve Jobs is the CEO of Apple, Inc let alone that Apple made the iPhone (I exaggerate). So that feed has to be redirected or turned off (most likely turned off).

Secondly, I need to have a place to present my video editing work that I don’t even talk about or show. I have a whole documentary that I haven’t uttered a peep about ’til today and probably won’t hereafter until I’m finished.

Lastly, this blog is where I come and play…sorta. Please don’t misconstrue that for, “he doesn’t take this blog seriously”. On the contrary, this blog means business to me, although I don’t make a cent from using it–I should, but I don’t cause I suck at business…too right brained I guess. :/ What I mean to say is, I’m passionate about what I talk about here, when I post anything. Whether or not viewers/passerby’s/readers take it seriously…se la vie! At the end of the day and in all truthfulness I blog first for myself, then for anyone that wants to come along…which, well appears to be nobody, judging from the huge numbers of comments that don’t exist on each post (ha!). Although, people do come to tell me about my blog in other places on the net besides on this blog, and I so can’t wrap my brain around this oddity.

So yeah, work and play need to be divided into their own “realms” on the “innernets”. It’ll be good for business, good for fun, and…whatever else. lol

In other news, the How iMac Project has had a strong start with the pilot video having launched earlier in September. Now I am working hard to make the rest of it smooth and acceptable while working with the next few people scheduled to be featured.

Viddytweet is the second most consistent video project I’ve started for this blog and I have a cool video coming for Viddytweet 003, so iFangirls/boys unite!

That’s all.

One more thing…

I have really neglected my blog in the worst way. But let me be straight forward for a moment and say that I have been swamped, and I mean swamped with three major projects that aren’t even related to my day jobs. Nevertheless, these projects are, for all intents and purposes, MAJOR resume builders. So while they aren’t putting bread on the table, they have future moolah potential. You feel me?! In fact, one got me an in on a major event that I cannot yet mention, but also requires me to obtain a professional video camera by February. I can’t figure how I’m gonna make that happen, but I’ll probably have to pull some strings with some new folks I know from school.

Moving right along…

For about the past two months I have been on summer vacation from teaching and during that time I have changed my major to video production. But long before I made this drastic change, I had already embarked on some very important video projects that require a great deal of time. Now that the school year is starting back up I am up to eyeballs in deadlines, editing, writing, teaching, and planning. *repeat* So, when folks have asked me, “Hey you wanna…” I cut them short and say “NO!” …unless it pays. In other words, if hanging out with you gets me paid, I’m down. Otherwise, I’m at home saving on gas money. LOL! I need every goshdarn cent I can get my fingers on!!

So, perhaps by the beginning of October things will begin to normalize for me (*rolling eyes* wishful thinking at best). Meanwhile, I will try to do better by my blog in spite of my busy-ness.

I can’t wait to complete all three projects so that I can share them because I have a lot of faith in what I’m doing. I just have to push myself and try to save money simultaneously. If you’re a person of prayer, I can use your Godly devotion to pray for me!

That’s all!

Are All Apple Store Employees Snobs?

July 7th, 2009 View Comments

@bbautista asked a really interesting question of me as a comment on one of my random “at the Apple Store” videos. Here is what he said…

@bbautista on Apple employees

Shocking as this may be, I really do believe in what I said to him, as it’s what I’ve actually experienced.

Care to share your experience or the lack thereof about an Apple Store employee. I’d love to know. Leave a comment! ^_^

Finally, I spotted an article on Current.com with a headline that reads, “Steve Jobs is a Horrible Manager”. There’s no story per se on Current, but the original article originated at the Harvard Business blog written by Bill Taylor and he kinda chews into Jobs. However, I can’t cast my vote one way or another because Mr. Jobs isn’t my boss.

But anyway, here is a little piece of what Bill Taylor said…

Humility is not part of the Steve Jobs leadership repertoire — and that’s worked out fine for him. But humility has become a crucial part of the job description for leaders who aren’t Steve Jobs. So marvel at his products, applaud his feel for design, wonder at his capacity to cast such a large shadow over so many industries — and, by all means, pray for his speedy recovery and long health.

But don’t think you’ll do better as a leader by acting more like Apple’s leader. Trust the art, not the artist.

Ouch!

That’s all.

I’m pooped. There’s so so so soooo much going on in my life at the moment, and meanwhile I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know I can make it. I really want to finish this year out right, but I’m loosing steam fast! ..and that’s putting it mildly.

Between both j-o-b’s, school, and home life, my head is spinning!

Anybody else feel this way? And in the meantime, can someone point me in the direction of a retirement home.

Where’s the energizer bunny when I need him???! :)

Hi hi hi hi hi!! How you are? I got chocolates and paid a visit to my Apple Store (yes I said my Apple Store) because I was feelin’ down after a bit of a rough day. I’ll bounce back though…but not without the help of some Godiva chocolate truffles and good old Apple tech. ^_^

How are you today?
