So I was at the mall with my mom and brother on mission to purchase a MacBook Pro for my brother because he’s going off for his first year of college in a few weeks. Skipping past that though, we later decided to hit the “cafetorium” (not food court, according to the mall’s description of their food facility). Anyway, I was totally sidetracked by one of those booths where you can buy a hat with custom embroidery on it. I really don’t know why now, out of all other visits, I decided to get one because that booth has been in that same spot for years. I bought a gray hat with black embroidery that reads, “macdavid pro”. After it was all said and done, I felt like the most special person in the world–I just had a total geek moment or somethin’. Whatever! I was just plain happy…I still am.
I was at the mall with one thing on my mind and that was to get something interesting to eat, but on the way I spotted this new little Nestle joint. I didn’t have time to go look at their chocolate goodies because I was in a rush. Next time!
Went to my last class meeting two weeks ago Monday I believe–Interpersonal Communications class I think. For the record I passed it with an “A”. Anyway, before class I hit up Starbucks and had to change it up a bit. I got a Caramel Apple Spice which should be hot cider, whipped cream, and caramel on top, but in place of the cider they use apple juice. Blech!!! Hence, why Starbucks has changed the name from Caramel Apple Cider to Caramel Apple Spice. That’s just silly!
And here is the last day of class in Film Appreciation. The instructor decided to surprise us out of a clear blue sky with pizza, soda and a movie. It was nice, but I still decided to leave early after the final exam and a slice and a half of pizza. I came home and decided to take a nap, then do a little work.
Same class.
Later that same week I went to a music workshop for work and it was really awesome. One of the teachers came up with a cool idea called “Bucket Band” and I am totally going to give it a try as well. As you can see, all it takes are 5 gallon buckets and drumsticks to teach some basic drumming techniques. This activity is along the lines of what street musicians do (i.e. Stomp) making the use of non-traditional instrumentation for music making. I love it!
Here is little random footage from our trip through Florida. There’s really nothing to it. I didn’t plan it and I put it all together in the order that it happened for the most part. The trip was to visit some colleges for my graduating brother.
Here’s a scenic view on one of the campuses.
When we got to Tallahassee we took a late night trip to Walmart and let me tell you that it is the biggest one I have ever seen. What’s more amazing is the store was so empty with no-long-lines! In fact, there weren’t any lines at 11pm-ish at night, mind you. Yeah, you may not find this fascinating, but if you live where I live you’d know that a Walmart with no lines at 11pm is a Godsend! …And yeah I said at 11pm at night.
Also, I noticed on our way out that this Walmart had a McDonald’s, nothing astounding about that, but it’s what was in the McDonald’s and all the others we’d seen across Tallahassee. There is this thing that North Florida McDonald’s have called McCafe which does not exist in South Florida. They have different hot beverage choices like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. I am so jealous.
This is my mobile office. I took this with me because I fully intended to finish up some blog posts that I put in draft and work on my “A Week with David” series. I achieved a little bit for one night and hadn’t had a moments rest to do so since. Remember this was two weeks ago. Sheesh! The work that I have to do does not match what I am paid, but I digress.
In the morning we visited Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. By the way these college visits were for my brother and his friend. It’s that time in his life where he must now pack up and go get a college degree in some American university at any cost…and boy do the costs kill!
On the way home I spotted this awesome car that another dude was like blatantly photographing with his humongo camera. I wonder if the owner of the car clobbered the guy after we left. ^_^
Here is a worthy cause by iAlbert aka “the Eat. Sleep. Tweet. guy” who is heading to Peru to help build wells for drinking water and more. But you know what, I think it’s best if I just let him explain, so here it is.
I hope you’ll feel compelled to contribute in some way. If nothing else, you can always purchase a shirt from eatsleeptweet.com (which is Albert’s own business). So there you have it. But before I go, I think when it comes to encouraging folks to support a cause, I like to lead by example, so here is my contribution to the cause.
I donated to Peru Trip and and my message popped up on the blog as a comment.
