So it’s been crazy busy as usual. Here’s the update on what’s going on with me in list form.
I’m taking a leave from school at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale for one quarter to work on renewing my teaching certification (or I’m out of a job come June. EEEkkk!! lol)
Something mysteriously happened to my left knee and I’m getting an MRI on it soon to figure out what happened (more details below).
I haven’t forgotten the How iMac Project. I’m actually making progress, just haven’t spoken about it.
And that’s mostly it.
About my knee…
Last week Wednesday I noticed a slight pain or ache in my left knee. Didn’t think anything of it and kept moving along with my day. Come Thursday I noticed a constant pop/click in my knee when I would walk. At first it was just annoying and made me look like I was drunk when I walked (LOL) as I tried to straighten myself up. Later on Friday, pain was now happening with every step and progressed thereafter.
Yesterday and today I’m noticing some improvement and normalcy to my walking. The pain is also slowly subsiding, but since having seen the doctor twice, I am scheduled for an MRI. However, I’m waiting for my insurance company to approve the procedure. I don’t fully understand way an MRI that is fully covered in my insurance needs a review board to approve it. I’m baffled by it. I’m in pain, and an x-ray does not show soft tissue, although my x-rays did show that my bones are fine. Thank God!
What IS scaring me is that my doctor said that I could have a meniscus tear in my knee. Oy!
Anybody every go through this before..about the knee pain I mean and a meniscus tear?
Listen to that, “meniscus tear”. That sounds SCARY!
Today I get my braces off! Yaaaaaay *Kermit the Frog style*
But in other news…
I bought a copy of Green Day’s new album. I haven’t listened to it all the way through yet, but what I’ve heard so far is nice and reminiscent of their previous “rock opera,” American Idiot. There are, of course, political overtones that seems to permeate the album. I guess that’s ok. But like I said, I haven’t listened to it all the way through and will probably change my current remarks afterward.
Yesterday evening, I took a nice trip to two different BestBuy stores to get a new hard drive. The drive that I use to store and edit video is filled and so I desperately needed a new one. I also have to use my current one as a scratch disk because my MacBook Pro doesn’t have enough room to handle being a scratch disk.
So I started out with this SimpleTech “prodrive” and it didn’t work–at least that’s what I thought at first. It was later (next paragraph) that I learned that in order to format it to work on a Mac, I would have to sort of reset the partition to Mac OS X Journaled (GAIN). It took me an hour to get it right and was like “Duuuuuh! David, you’ve done this before. Why didn’t I remember this before?”
Anyway, I took the hard drive back telling the customer service folks at the second BestBuy that it doesn’t work. It was with the second hard drive, a terabyte sized Western Digital, that I learned how to get it all right. The good part is that I saved $5.30 because the Western Digital hard drive costs less than the prodrive. Soooo, happy ending. And scene!
