Worst blogger ever!

May 6th, 2010 View Comments

I want to apologize to all my subscribers on this blog. My back-again-gone-again relationship with this blog and you all, has been something on par with hollywood celebrity relationships. In the context of social media it amounts to really bad public relations and a hard-to-watch blogger-fail. Like the long scary endless highway wreck scene in Final Destination 2, and you wanna look away but can’t stop watching.

I truly apologize and I won’t make excuses, although I may one legitimate excuse….I guess.

Truthfully, I grew tired of blogging here and the novelty of it and social media became all too familiar. So I’ve taken a break from this blog and went elsewhere for a while online. You know the cliché, “familiarity breeds contempt”. …Well, it was that kind of thing. I’ll get over I’m sure though. But while breaking from blogging some new things have come into my life, some good some bad and my time and attention has been elsewhere. I can’t talk about it openly just yet, but when the time is write I will definitely announce what’s up.

So until then, I may trickle a couple things out here and there.

If you have any ideas what I can do to spice things up here, let me know.

Trailer: Eat Pray Love

March 29th, 2010 View Comments

I want to see this! From my young, single male point of view, in my corner of the world (Florida), this is where I am in my life. I need to marvel at something!! …outside of my home, outside of my city, my state my country! I want to get away for a few years.

Can you relate to this book/film’s message in any way? I’d love to hear your perspective.

Thanks for the story contributions!

I have been periodically receiving a number of stories from startups, PR agents and so forth to potentially blog about. I’m extremely excited about this, and so I have my work cut out for me as I’m a bit backlogged. lol

I will be posting some of these stories this weekend and within the coming week, so please watch for them.

Thanks to those who have contributed. I see you, and again thanks.

So here’s what’s going on with MacDavid

January 14th, 2010 View Comments

So it’s been crazy busy as usual. Here’s the update on what’s going on with me in list form.

  • I’m taking a leave from school at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale for one quarter to work on renewing my teaching certification (or I’m out of a job come June. EEEkkk!! lol)
  • Something mysteriously happened to my left knee and I’m getting an MRI on it soon to figure out what happened (more details below).
  • I haven’t forgotten the How iMac Project. I’m actually making progress, just haven’t spoken about it.

And that’s mostly it.

About my knee…
Last week Wednesday I noticed a slight pain or ache in my left knee. Didn’t think anything of it and kept moving along with my day. Come Thursday I noticed a constant pop/click in my knee when I would walk. At first it was just annoying and made me look like I was drunk when I walked (LOL) as I tried to straighten myself up. Later on Friday, pain was now happening with every step and progressed thereafter.

Yesterday and today I’m noticing some improvement and normalcy to my walking. The pain is also slowly subsiding, but since having seen the doctor twice, I am scheduled for an MRI. However, I’m waiting for my insurance company to approve the procedure. I don’t fully understand way an MRI that is fully covered in my insurance needs a review board to approve it. I’m baffled by it. I’m in pain, and an x-ray does not show soft tissue, although my x-rays did show that my bones are fine. Thank God!

What IS scaring me is that my doctor said that I could have a meniscus tear in my knee. Oy!

Anybody every go through this before..about the knee pain I mean and a meniscus tear?

Listen to that, “meniscus tear”. That sounds SCARY!

Blog Blog Blog!: Movin’ my stuff.

So, I have finally gotten around to separating my pre-professional work from this blog. iamdavidmoore.com (my “blogfolio”) is going to be ready very soon. Why? Well, this blog is too multi-purposed. It confuses people that come by this blog, the RSS feed is being piped into my Facebook account newsfeed and it confuses my friends, most of which probably don’t even know that Steve Jobs is the CEO of Apple, Inc let alone that Apple made the iPhone (I exaggerate). So that feed has to be redirected or turned off (most likely turned off).

Secondly, I need to have a place to present my video editing work that I don’t even talk about or show. I have a whole documentary that I haven’t uttered a peep about ’til today and probably won’t hereafter until I’m finished.

Lastly, this blog is where I come and play…sorta. Please don’t misconstrue that for, “he doesn’t take this blog seriously”. On the contrary, this blog means business to me, although I don’t make a cent from using it–I should, but I don’t cause I suck at business…too right brained I guess. :/ What I mean to say is, I’m passionate about what I talk about here, when I post anything. Whether or not viewers/passerby’s/readers take it seriously…se la vie! At the end of the day and in all truthfulness I blog first for myself, then for anyone that wants to come along…which, well appears to be nobody, judging from the huge numbers of comments that don’t exist on each post (ha!). Although, people do come to tell me about my blog in other places on the net besides on this blog, and I so can’t wrap my brain around this oddity.

So yeah, work and play need to be divided into their own “realms” on the “innernets”. It’ll be good for business, good for fun, and…whatever else. lol

In other news, the How iMac Project has had a strong start with the pilot video having launched earlier in September. Now I am working hard to make the rest of it smooth and acceptable while working with the next few people scheduled to be featured.

Viddytweet is the second most consistent video project I’ve started for this blog and I have a cool video coming for Viddytweet 003, so iFangirls/boys unite!

That’s all.

A Major Change

July 20th, 2009 View Comments

A little over a week ago I made a big move, in my opinion, to change my major from web design to video production. As some of you may already know, I attend the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and I’ve been enjoying myself studying there thus far. But I will confess that I wasn’t sure about my first choice of major to begin with. In fact, I had two desires, web design or video production. I wasn’t sure which one I wanted the most, but I set my mind on web design.

So, here I am a little over a year later and through one I discovered my passion was always for the other. I took one video editing class in accordance with my first degree program in 2008, and I couldn’t get enough. So the deeper I got into it the more I realized that I like video editing. There is no explanation outside of what I’ve said so far, but I just love working with video. So there you have it. If have any questions of me about it, I’d be more than happy to oblige, especially on what I’ve learned and taught myself so far.

I am working on some projects as we speak outside of school and I’m excited to be doing them. I won’t speak specifically about them in detail outside of what I’ve posted on my “about” page of this blog, but they’re going well.

So far I’ve gone through my first week of classes and I am truly having a blast. Currently, I’m taking Scriptwriting, Introduction to Video Production, and Fundamentals of Video Editing. (for the latter, we’re using Avid and Final Cut Pro).

Don’t want to draw this out, but I did want to share this bit of news.

Curious. Have you ever had a change of passion about what it is you want to do for a career at some point in your life?
