Ok. This site and the photos therein will go down in web culture history with endless snorting laughter and then some. This absolutely blew my mind and had or has me dying in laughter thanks to a tweet from @ohmykevin on twitter.
Check it….

Ummm… What the FRENCH FRY was goin’ on here!?!?!?! How much money did this family throw down for this?! Wait. Wrong question. Did the dad NOT realize that the pose was a wee bit odd?

Anyway, check out the site at awkwardfamilypetphotos.com and be sure to add them to your twitter stream for a quick pick-me-up during those trying times. Just don’t let you and your friends get caught at work by your boss ROFL’ing or he/she might take away your smartphone privileges. God forbid an emailed memo is sent around. ;)

Re: awkwardfamilypetphotos.com

Hello,

I provided you all with new shinier phones yesterday, free of charge after slaving for months on our latest release. But I will not tolerate the abuse of valuable work hours while sniggering at numerous family beast photos on them. Besides, our followers our counting on us to entice them to jettison yet another of our GodPhones in less than 12 months for a newer and improved GodPhone. Serve me well and I’ll… [SECRET].

P.S. Do not even *think* of trying to sneak an awkwardfamilyphotos.com app into the App Store. It is hereby band. Try and I will remote wipe all of your phones. I know where you are.

I mean this is total good spirit.

I Made A Hat! …sorta.

So I was at the mall with my mom and brother on mission to purchase a MacBook Pro for my brother because he’s going off for his first year of college in a few weeks. Skipping past that though, we later decided to hit the “cafetorium” (not food court, according to the mall’s description of their food facility). Anyway, I was totally sidetracked by one of those booths where you can buy a hat with custom embroidery on it. I really don’t know why now, out of all other visits, I decided to get one because that booth has been in that same spot for years. I bought a gray hat with black embroidery that reads, “macdavid pro”. After it was all said and done, I felt like the most special person in the world–I just had a total geek moment or somethin’. Whatever! I was just plain happy…I still am. :)

That’s all!

Where My Wild Fears Were

Where My Wild Fears Were

When I was a little boy I had a huge and, of course, irrational fear of what would come out of my closet at night when bedtime had come and I or my mother forgot to close the closet door. But one day my elementary teacher read the story of “Where the Wild Things Are” and I suddenly had a whole new view on what could be in my room and closet, causing me to see my closet as a newly found playground. While I know the story isn’t so much about fear, it does portray a boy who was dubbed a wild thing by his mother and was brave enough to tame even the wild beasts that he encountered. So in short this story emboldened me as a child.

Now, I feel that I must give a short background story for the liveliness of my former fear at this point. You see I was an only child raised by my mother for about seven years of my life. That may not seem like a long time, but in a child’s mind that’s forever in light of that fact that I was introverted–still am to a degree–shy, and most often alone. So during those first seven years of my life I learned to get along by myself. My toys, the yard, and my imagination were my friends and so I developed a wild imagination to say the least. In fact, I often got in trouble in elementary school for always being distracted. Yes, I was quiet, kept to my self and got along with my classmates, but I day dreamed all the time, honestly I still do to this day (if you cannot tell I’m a child a heart and probably won’t change).

The gladdest moment in human life, methinks, is a departure into unknown lands. The blood flows with the fast circulation of childhood. –Sir Richard Burton

Anyway, my mind produced fears that were absolutely terrifying and lead to spending countless nights sleeping while huddled under my bed covers in sweat until morning. The faint luminescent shadows coalesced with the overwhelming pitch black darkness of my open closet had my mind reeling with what could be peering out of the darkness at me, planning to reach out and grab me at any moment. I struggled with this for years in my childhood. But this book, “Where the Wild Things Are” changed it all for me and I consider the writer of the book to have been inspired to change children’s views on the so-called beasts or monsters that can lurk in the corners of a child’s mind, and infamously manifest themselves into the dark places of child’s bedroom.

Today, I cannot stand one bit of light once I resign myself to go to bed. I love the darkness because it simply calms me. Weird, yes I know. ^_^ And so it is the ambient noise from family members still awake, the street noise, and whatever else that jars me from my sleep and annoys me to high heaven…take that back, to no end these things literally tap dance on my nerves. Open or closed the closet could have a killer in it and I simply don’t care, he or she had just better not bother me at this point in my life–and not I’m not afraid.

So jumping back to the beginning of this long story, this wonderful children’s story is near and dear to my heart and I cannot wait to see the motion picture adaptation in October!

Sunday morning my mother, brother and I headed out to a football college recruitment fair for high school seniors. My brother is graduating soon and we visited several tables of different college recruiters. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Basically we hit up a local Einstein’s Bros and I always find myself staring at these muffins because they look diseased to me–leprous even. Weird!

Anyway we ate on the way to the recruitment fair and finally arrived. The place was totally packed out with high school football players and their families. My brother was pretty excited about the whole thing.

Now let’s hope that one of the school’s that are interested in him will get back to us soon. :)

Fast-forward two or so hours, and to where we went to Red Lobster. On the way in I hit to the bathroom, but before leaving I had to do a traditional myspace-like photo. Hey, you have to get one or two taken at some point in the year, right?

Had a delicious lunch/dinner with the family at Red Lobster and those garlic cheese muffins are to die for. I died with each bite.

film-appreciation-600px

Monday… Hard beginning. This picture is how I feel about Mondays because it was taken near the end of my day in Film Appreciation class some time around 8:00pm. In other words, a lot of Mondays I’d like to just fast-forward to the end of the day. And as I sit here and write this blog post, let me tell you that today was better than most Mondays, but still hard.

This is part of poster that is basically plastered all over the Art Institute campus. I would love to attend this film festival, but I have to work that day. Arg! Being in a film appreciation class has further increased my love and interest in film. So if only I didn’t have to work. Shucks…

Skip Tuesday, Wednesday and we arrive at Thursday where I am traveling to the mall to check out some stuff at Best Buy.

Basically, I’ve been searching for some for the following things:

  • 76-Key Keyboard or more
  • Good HD Camcorder Completed!
  • F.E.A.R. 2 for my brother. Scary game. Completed!

So I arrived at Best Buy with one camcorder in mind. I did some in-depth research on the internet for a affordable HD camcorder with 24p frame rate feature. I came across the Canon HV20 and the Canon HF10. As you will soon see, I settled on the latter because it stores the video footage with digital flash memory (personal preference).

Anyway later that same night I was craving some good Chinese. There is this place called Peking Tokyo that I love and just had to have my favorite, Szechuan Chicken. I die every time I order it for dinner.

domos-600px

Anyhow, I hit up Target before finally making it home Thursday night. I enter and randomly pass the toy section when my eyes lock on the sudden sight of a shelf full of Domos. I died in happiness! Why? Well ever since I learned about these awesome critters (plush toy) I have wanted to collect them. I really don’t know why I like them, but I just do. I have one for Halloween–which I don’t really celebrate. I was hoping to find some Christmas holiday Domos, but alas no cigar, as it were.

So yeah, I spend the money and bought the HF10 and I’m very, very happy right now. Expect awesome videos from me in the very near future. I am putting in a number of hours for learning Final Cut Express 4 HD so that I can produce better videos. Not to mention, I am also writing content for four videos that I have planned, among which I began writing less than a year ago, however it was put on the back burner.

For now all I can tell you is to hang in there and stay synced! The videos are coming. Scouts honor. *holding up hand*

Look at that, it’s the size of a can of Pepsi and slightly taller than my iPhone 3G… (Psst! I wanted a can of Coca Cola, but this is all that was in the kitchen. Don’t tell Pepsi I said this to you. K?)

Alright, ’til next week’s adventures in my life techtorial life.
