I went to see the film “The September Issue” and I loved it and I had to share. I appreciate fashion. What can I say?

Ramsey Mohsen on the Palm Pre

July 8th, 2009 View Comments

Update: Yesterday, I apparently really upset a die hard techhead that obviously is a big fan of the Palm Pre. I apparently angered him with my remark that the Palm Pre is an iClone. So I revised this post, not because he got angry, but to clarify and stand by my personal opinion, based on what I want out of a touchscreen, smartphone. I still think it’s the very best iClone, that’s close to standing on equal footing with the iPhone. It’s in the #2 spot in my book. I imagine I can’t just say this without stating my reasons so..

Detailed reasons why I would stick with my iPhone (not that I wouldn’t):

  • Palm Pre is with Sprint. I don’t want Sprint.
  • The tactile keyboard is awesome, but too small and it hurts my fingernails.
  • The screen is too small.
  • I formerly and doubly didn’t like the fact that it didn’t sync with a Mac, but this has recently changed due to markspace.com’s program Missing Sync. (Read the post above this one.)
  • I’m just happy with what I’ve got. Why buy something you don’t need. And on that note…
  • It does a lot of what the iPhone already does for me very well.

On that last bullet point:
(That’s not to say that it doesn’t do some things better than an iPhone. For one it’s mucho, mucho better at multitasking than an iPhone by leaps and bounds in my honest opinion, and it’s cloud computing abilities (like what Mobile Me does for you Contact and Calendaring) allows you to sync with your already existing web services like Google contacts and calender, Facebook and what not. Read more about this at popsci.com and here. Form your own opinion.)

But in general, I’ve never seen someone get so passionately upset about tech. I thought talking about this stuff was supposed to be fun. Just sayin’.

And scene. lol

Revised Post

I very briefly spoke with Ramsey Mohsen on Facebook, asking for his opinion on the Palm Pre after he visited his local Sprint.

I have been watching, listening and waiting to see what some of the results would be after the Palm Pre launched. So, as a die hard Apple iPhone user (not really), I am giving my personal opinion at long last. In all honesty, I am kind of disappointed with the Palm Pre because I thought it was actually going to bring some ground-breaking feature(s) that would have it stand as a competitor that exceeds the iPhone. Instead, it’s just the very best iClone out there–just giving credit where credit is due. Don’t get me wrong, it does have one particular feature that comes to my mind right now, that I wish the iPhone could do. It allows multiple apps to run in the background. However, with the push notification added in the 3.0 software update, I’m happy with my iPhone.

The Palm Pre is an iClone and yet veeeeery different in it’s own right. But for now I think that was implied in Apple’s first iPhone 3G ad back in 2008–the one device that’s better than an iPhone, is a better iPhone–is true. …so far. The Palm Pre may eventually come out one top. And when and if it does, it’ll be a cool thing to have happened. :)

Random Visit to My Apple Store

June 20th, 2009 View Comments

I went shopping specifically for a nice “cheap” hoodie, and well at the mall cheap means no less than $20 dollars. But anyway, since I was at the mall I decided I’d go see what the line was like at the Apple Store, and there was no line. However, I learned from one of the iWorkers (that means a store employee in my crazy made-up Apple language) that the place was over-run with iPeople (also known as Apple users).

Also, it’s good to know that Steve Jobs is doing well, although I doubt that he will ever go back to doing the amount of work that he did prior to taking a leave of absence.

Welcome back Steve!! :)

Summer Choir Tour: Day 5 Vlog

June 12th, 2009 View Comments

(Facebook friends must click here to see the embedded video that accompanies this note. Sorry.)

So I really wanted to do a vlog for each day and I ended up missing the first three days. Sooo…yeah, FAIL! But here I am making up for it with a vlog and what happened so far in the past few days. (For the record I have hours of video footage of each day, so I’ll edit some of it somehow to a five to ten minute video one. Moving on…

Day 1

We basically arrived in Washington D.C. and from there went directly to visit the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial and Korean War Memorial. We had dinner at Union Station where my group of choir boys and I (chaperone) ate at Johnny Rockets (so good). That took the rest of the day.

Day 2

We had a performance at an elementary school for K through 6th graders, and they loved it! Afterward, we took a tour of the Arlington National Cemetery and visited the tomb of the Uknown Soldier. We went to the National Archives mainly to go to the Rotunda where the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the US Constitution are on display.

That evening we had a okay dinner at ESPN Zone, thereafter making a short visit to the monuments visited on Monday during the night to take some pictures.

Day 3

We got up early this morning and visited the US Supreme Court and literally glanced at the Library of Congress. We met with our congressman, Ron Klein, on the steps of the Capitol Building whereupon we took an awesome tour of the Capitol building.

Lunch was at the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum. Later that evening we had a wonderful collaboration with the Washington Youth Choir.

Dinner and more monument by moonlight picture taking.

Day 4

Early rise for our performance at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School where the US Postal Service held an unveiling tribute of a new stamp for Anna Julia Cooper. There the choir boys sang, The National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing and We Rise Again.

We had free time in the National Mall where some of us visited the either the American History Museum or the Natural History Museum.

Finally, we had a big performance at the Washington National Cathedral where we performed an Evensong, and I got an exclusive view from the top of the central tower (awesomeness!!!).

Day 5

That brings us to the present. We had a fun-filled day at Six Flags.

Later on I’ll try to add photos and what not.

Braces Off!

May 25th, 2009 View Comments

This is a long overdue video from when I got my braces taken off. I totally didn’t plan on recording any of this, but later thought “why not?” in the heat of the moment.

At the present time my right, top canine is having an epic battle with my retainer. I’ll put them on and everything will be good as when my braces were taken off. Then when I take my retainers off, within an hour my teeth move. Argg!!
