Thanks for the story contributions!

March 6th, 2010

I have been periodically receiving a number of stories from startups, PR agents and so forth to potentially blog about. I’m extremely excited about this, and so I have my work cut out for me as I’m a bit backlogged. lol

I will be posting some of these stories this weekend and within the coming week, so please watch for them.

Thanks to those who have contributed. I see you, and again thanks.

Good Cause: How I made an iTunes Store Haiti Earthquake Relief Donation

January 19th, 2010

It has been hard not to hear and see tragic news of the natural disaster that has hit the island of Haiti. Since I live in South Florida, I have a good number of Haitian friends, co-workers, and mutual acquaintances. But since Hurricane Katrina I have been a bit sketchy about which relief organization to donate my money. So when I got an email about the option to donate to the American Red Cross through the iTunes store, I became curious and donated. If you’ve purchased anything from the iTunes store since the this tragedy struck Haiti on January 12, then you’re already well ahead on being able to easily donate to a good cause in under 3 minutes. :)

1. Basically you go to iTunes and click on the button for American Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief Donation (which you can do here by clicking “Earthquake Relief”).

2. Next you can choose the amount that you would like starting from as little as $5.00 to $200.00 dollars.

3. To pay the amount of your chosen donation all you have to do is log in the same way you would when purchasing an app, song, album or movie from the iTunes Store.

4. Confirm your purchase.

5. And voila! You are all done giving a moment of your effort, time and a portion of your hard-earned money to what will benefit a people in need right now.

Apture Wordpress Plugin

January 17th, 2010

Post by David Moore

I have been using the Apture plugin on this blog for many months now and I truly love it! It has helped save me time in researching for blog posts and making embedding content a whole lot easier. But not only can it be useful for authoring this blog, but it can also make understanding and researching certain portions of a post for the reader very convenient.

So I have one simple question for you: Have you had a chance to try out the Apture feature on this blog and was it helpful.

If you haven’t utilized it as a reader here, would you please try it out and leave a comment. I am a little pass due to email the Apture developers about my experience with it, but before I do I’d like a little input from you.

I greatly appreciate your help in advance! :)

So here’s what’s going on with MacDavid

January 14th, 2010

So it’s been crazy busy as usual. Here’s the update on what’s going on with me in list form.

  • I’m taking a leave from school at the Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale for one quarter to work on renewing my teaching certification (or I’m out of a job come June. EEEkkk!! lol)
  • Something mysteriously happened to my left knee and I’m getting an MRI on it soon to figure out what happened (more details below).
  • I haven’t forgotten the How iMac Project. I’m actually making progress, just haven’t spoken about it.

And that’s mostly it.

About my knee…
Last week Wednesday I noticed a slight pain or ache in my left knee. Didn’t think anything of it and kept moving along with my day. Come Thursday I noticed a constant pop/click in my knee when I would walk. At first it was just annoying and made me look like I was drunk when I walked (LOL) as I tried to straighten myself up. Later on Friday, pain was now happening with every step and progressed thereafter.

Yesterday and today I’m noticing some improvement and normalcy to my walking. The pain is also slowly subsiding, but since having seen the doctor twice, I am scheduled for an MRI. However, I’m waiting for my insurance company to approve the procedure. I don’t fully understand way an MRI that is fully covered in my insurance needs a review board to approve it. I’m baffled by it. I’m in pain, and an x-ray does not show soft tissue, although my x-rays did show that my bones are fine. Thank God!

What IS scaring me is that my doctor said that I could have a meniscus tear in my knee. Oy!

Anybody every go through this before..about the knee pain I mean and a meniscus tear?

Listen to that, “meniscus tear”. That sounds SCARY!

Happy New Year: How I’ll Spend my 2010

December 31st, 2009

As I think about this past year all I can see is a lot of stuff happened. I turned 27, had a huge epiphany about my life and present career. And now I’m trying to make change happen.

I’m really not a man who likes to speak at great length, so I’ll keep this short and sweet. And for the record, I hate labels so for those who’d call this New Year’s resolutions can suck it! lol

Here are the things that I’d like to achieve in 2010:

  1. Continue eliminating unnecessary debt.
  2. Build new relationships (of any dynamic; casual to romantic)
  3. Change careers.
  4. Start running and working out again.
  5. Put on at least 10lbs of muscle (mainly lower body)
  6. Say “no” and “shutup” more often to people I really have no intention of meaningfully engaging, with all due respect of course. “No” is so powerful!
  7. Talk to my brother more often.
  8. Stop cursing under my breathe. LOL!! I put up a huge facade, but I curse like a sailor in secret. And no lie, this runs in the family on my mother’s side. There I said it. Now I can genuinely ask for forgiveness. ;)

Hmm…it seems I had more negatives than positives up there, but ya know what, I keep it real.

As I finish editing this post, it is 12:15am and it’s sounds like the war “over there” was brought to my neighborhood from all the fireworks going off. I pray that you have a happy new year and much success!

What about you? What’s your plan, if you have one at all? Wingin’ it in 2010, or have you laid a general course of action, kinda like what I did above?

Viddytweet 004: Under the tree and stress free

December 13th, 2009

I’m presently in the middle of a Grey’s Anatomy marathon and I saw an episode where Izzy, Meredith Grey, and Knight’s character (can’t remember the character name), laid under the tree and just thought to themselves. I found that to be really interesting and potentially cathartic, so I did it. Feels good!

You should try it. lol
