From the Archives: iJump iPhone App – Test Trial Video Log

June 28th, 2009 View Comments

Below is blog post from a while ago. Enjoy!

When I originally created this silly little video, the idea was I recorded a video log of my trial run with an iPhone application I’d been developing. I don’t want to spoil it for folks that haven’t seen it by saying much more, however. But at any rate, I was publicly releasing one of my top-secret logs exclusively for readers of this blog.

Today, I am re-releasing it today less than 30 days prior to the day I released it a year ago. I chose it because so many folks loved it, particularly making it a select video for the front page of Viddler.com, one of my favorite video sharing sites. So, enjoy! …again. ;)

P.S. I am asked often, will I make more funny videos. Yes, with time. I know this past year was a total dud since the making of this video, but I’ve been plottin’ and plannin’ all summer so far. Be patient with me. Not now, but soon!

Below is blog post from a while ago. Enjoy!

Last fall I went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I loved it when I saw it and today I finally went to buy my copy of the DVD.

Also I wrote about how much I loved it and how it inspired me to do my on quirky version of it based on the fact that my iPhone seemed to be reverting back to it’s bugs in prior firmware verisons. Hence, the image that I created below. :)

After having seen the movie months ago, am somewhat confused as to how so many people are so dismissive of this movie. A lot of online comments have stated that it was very much like Forest Gump and that David Fincher didn’t do F. Scott Fitzgerald’s story justice. I’m just really taken back by all of these contrasting comments. Honestly, if the movie were made into a carbon copy of the book, I don’t think I would have gone to see it. I believe that David Fincher made an absolutely great movie. Visually, it is a masterpiece, and the casting was perfect. Finally, who cares that it rubs of the storytelling style of Forest Gump. Who cares!?

Have you seen it? If so, what did you think of the movie?

A post from the past.

Here is a post from March 2008 back when I was still hosting my blog on blogger.com. At any rate, here are some tips that I Tweet by to this day. Happy reading!

David

P.S. This isn’t a direct re-post because I’ve spruced it up a bit for presentation purposes.

Twittership Tips

A couple helpful Twitter tips…

No-no’s

  • Lack of activity

  • Too much activity. Using @s constantly, therefore turning Twitter into a public chat room. Or just twittering way too much…and by way too much I mean posting tweets every 20 minutes or less. I’m serious! In fact, limit it to 30 minutes apart, at least.

  • Twittering non-sense (i.e. “Pooping” or “vms;udhf”) Needless to say, annoying. I have unfollowed two folks who did both of these examples incessantly.

  • Spamming links from your Flickr, Utterz, and/or blog, etc. A few occasional links here and there are quite alright.

  • Moreover, make sure the links you are posting lead to substantive subject matter relevant to your followers. Don’t post last nights binge drinking and then go follow business oriented twitter-ites.

  • Save the expletives and vulgarities. If you shouldn’t say it in person, don’t say it online.

  • Don’t worry about who is or is not following you any longer–mainly the latter. Get a life! …just kidding. No, actually if you break a sweat when your “followers” count goes down a tick, that’s a sign that Twitterholics Anonymous is for you. Admit it. Quit it. Forget it.

  • Don’t twitter about who unfollowed you.

  • Don’t Tweet and drive folks. We love you!

Do’s

  • Do the opposite of everything above!

  • Use Twitter to share the wealth that is you and your intuition, insight, talents, creativity, joy, love, and so on throughout your daily life.

  • Greet and thank those that do follow you.

  • The Twitterverse is your oyster not your garbage dispenser.

  • This isn’t exactly a do, but is essentially. Just because you don’t have 10,000+ followers like Jason Calacanis, Robert Scoble or Justine Ezarik iJustine doesn’t make you a nobody. Instead, it means that you have a unique niche or community of friends with which you can realistically communicate and share thoughts and experiences.

  • Do the right thing and Tweet responsibly.

  • Feel free to “Retweet” a cool tweet that you come across. [added 3/22/09]

  • Twitter is awesome for networking in industries related to the Internet and technology, or almost anything for that matter.

So obviously this is not an exhaustive list of what to do and what not to do with Twitter, nor is it a rule book. But these are my personal guidelines based on my personal experiences on how to best utilize Twitter. In the end do what works for you.

Stay Synced!
