SoundWorks Collection has been publishing videos to Vimeo.com to give not just some behind-the-scenes peeks, but insight into the efforts taken in sound design. By my estimation their efforts are quite lengthy and employ top-notch use of the world’s open spaces, objects, devices, you name it, in sound capture to give audiences the director’s intended overall experience.
“There are so many misperceptions about sound for film. SoundWorks Collection helps de-mystify the art, and show how pros in the trenches are really doing it. An incredible resource. I’m shocked there was nothing like it until now.” -Erik Aadahl, Supervising Sound Editor “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”
This is an awesome initiative that I think places SoundWorks Collection way ahead of the game in how they are taking advantage of social media–simply put!
If there is anything that will make me want an iPad it is because of amazing apps like this one. More importantly, I hope to see actual magazines begin to take up an approach like this. On that note, I think that Flipboard may be onto something that magazines may want to get into through their iPad application. Why stop at Social Media?
There isn’t much that I can say here because the video makes it abundantly clear! Let me know what you think?
I think this Droid X commercial ad is awesome! Honestly, I’ve never really been impressed with Apple’s subtle, dry ads. I may stand alone on this as my fellow Appple fanboys and girls gasp and suck the air off the planet. But behold, it’s true. I’m rarely impressed by ads Apple puts out. Droid on the other hand is totally awesome!
Before I go any further, one might ask how this is relevant content for this blog. It’s probably a stretch, but Hulu.com is an awesome blend of web technology, social media and televised content in light of the growing demand for great DIY video content on the web. To see people pooling and recruiting talent discovered online is fascinating. This is a prime example of web culture. Don’t you agree? Move right along…
This is a bit late, but The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers debuted on Hulu.com on July 7th. Just prior to the debut Paul Dateh recently announced on his blog that his music will be featured in the 10th Chapter “I Seen A Man”. Keep a lookout for this. I happen to like Paul’s music and think you should check it out. His sound and combined talents are certainly unique and worth good attention.
Coming back to The LXD, I watched the first episode and…it’s different. It’s a unique blend of Heroes meets America’s Best Dance Crew. If you’ve seen any part of the first season of Heroes, then you will clearly get that vibe from The LXD. It’s very interesting. Check it out in the link above.
Visit Paul’s website, pauldateh.com and also watch this cool mashup he put out back in May. This video is so awesome! It gives me goosebumps, in a good way!! Also you just wanna get up and cut a rug, had me dancin’ in my seat at my computer. lol
This might shock you but I don’t want to talk so much about the fact that it was shot entirely with an iPhone 4 camera. The most I’ll say about that is the image quality was superb enough to even pursue a project with the mobile device. Great! But in any case…
I want to mention the post production work on this video, as I think it’s wonderful. You might be shocked to know that this video was shot in 9 locations (the obvious part of the video), but it was all accomplished in one day. Wowzers!
The video was color corrected using Final Cut Pro, and admittedly rushed, according to the production notes. I think that ironically, the look is very artistic and effective in spite of the setbacks and short timing, per the editors mentioning. Among the logistical limitations were the iPhone 4′s limits: “lack of lighting, aperture and shutter speed control”.
I just want to say hats off to the producers of this music video! It’s a job well-done.
