A Blog iLike: Tech/Gadget blogger Arnold Aranez aka “Mr. Gadget”

March 26th, 2010 View Comments

A tech blogger whose blog I absolutely love is that of Arnold Aranez for mrgadget.com.au. For one, it’s not like a huge site like gizmodo or engadget, and the info and opinions are mostly from one mind versus a crowd of voices. Don’t get me wrong, Gizmodo and the like have their place. I’m just saying that tech bloggers that know what they’re talking about is refreshing. I’m just an enthusiast who likes good sources is all I’m sayin’.

I am giving this tech blog site 5 M’s (as you can see above) based on a very basic rubric:

1. Presents current tech/gadget content that is actually relevant to the blog’s niche.
2. Posts are relatively short and concise.
3. Information is told from a personal view and/or experience.
4. Provides reviews.
Bonus: Provides a service(s).

Can you tell I whipped this rubric together by the seat of my pants? lol I tried hard to think of why I like it this blog and this is what came to mind. We’ll see if these standards hold to be truly universal for future blog reviews. For now, I think this will work. :)

If you haven’t already blogrolled Mr. Gadget, then please do so!

iPad Opinion: “iDonotwant” – fashion blogger speaks out on iPad

February 11th, 2010 View Comments

F-bomb aside, I do find, fashion blogger, Bryanboy’s overall opinion quite indicative of an attitude I think is definitely shared by A LOT of people regarding the iPad. I’ll even confess that I still can’t find and justify a non-wasteful reason for needing to own this device. If someone gifted it to me, GREAT! But am I silly enough to shell out $499 or more dollars for this things? Abso-freakin’-lutely not!!! At least not at that price. Nevertheless, from a strictly practical standpoint, I truly don’t need this thing, whereas my iPhone was primarily an investment to suite the needs of my busy lifestyle better than a Blackberry at the time way back in 2007 (iPhone), then 2008 (iPhone 3G), and 2009 (iPhone 3GS). ;)

What’s your opinion on the iPad. Time worthwhile device, or do you consider it a waste of money? Sound off!

Anyway here is what Bryanboy had to say about the iPad…

Aside from the touch screen, what can the iPad do that a phone and a laptop can’t? I don’t understand why they won’t develop one powerful device that can do EVERYTHING.

Camera, phone, laptop, iPod, and now, the iPad? Can you imagine carrying all that mess in your bag?

16-64 Gig memory and no camera or phone functions? And you have to pay more extra for 3G capabilities?

Typical Apple behavior to nickle and dime features because they know suckers will buy them every time they release a new version.

Blogger iLike: Tao Lin & Shoplifting from American Apparel

December 29th, 2009 View Comments

I reserved my copy of “Shoplifting from American Apparel.” He’s a funny guy. Judging from the comments and reviews that fans have left about Lin’s book, I figured I’d check it out. I have to trek, however, all the way to Boca Raton to get a copy because no closer Barnes & Nobles store has it. But anyway, I’m in the mood for a somewhat shallow and detached short read. I found him and his work by accident one day because I stumbled upon his tweet in my twitter stream. Apparently, I followed him at some point in the past.

Finally, let me say that this is the most peculiar guy ever! I mean walks to the beat of a drum I ain’t even heard of.

@tao_lin‘s book “Shoplifting from American Apparel”

I kid you not! That’s his web address!!

That’s all.

Chuvaness.com: Pepper Lunch, so delish!!

Pepper Lunch

There is an awesome blogger who’s blog I read, chuvaness.com, on a regular basis, and from time-to-time she blogs about an amazing restaurant chain called Pepper Lunch. Somestimes she shows the food that they serve and I literally salivate because the meal choices look so delicious. I wish Pepper Lunch was in America–namely South Florida. I would eat at Pepper Lunch all the time!

Anyway, check her stuff out, she’s a nice blogger!
