Summer Choir Tour: Day 5 Vlog
(Facebook friends must click here to see the embedded video that accompanies this note. Sorry.)
So I really wanted to do a vlog for each day and I ended up missing the first three days. Sooo…yeah, FAIL! But here I am making up for it with a vlog and what happened so far in the past few days. (For the record I have hours of video footage of each day, so I’ll edit some of it somehow to a five to ten minute video one. Moving on…
Day 1
We basically arrived in Washington D.C. and from there went directly to visit the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial and Korean War Memorial. We had dinner at Union Station where my group of choir boys and I (chaperone) ate at Johnny Rockets (so good). That took the rest of the day.
Day 2
We had a performance at an elementary school for K through 6th graders, and they loved it! Afterward, we took a tour of the Arlington National Cemetery and visited the tomb of the Uknown Soldier. We went to the National Archives mainly to go to the Rotunda where the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the US Constitution are on display.
That evening we had a okay dinner at ESPN Zone, thereafter making a short visit to the monuments visited on Monday during the night to take some pictures.
Day 3
We got up early this morning and visited the US Supreme Court and literally glanced at the Library of Congress. We met with our congressman, Ron Klein, on the steps of the Capitol Building whereupon we took an awesome tour of the Capitol building.
Lunch was at the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum. Later that evening we had a wonderful collaboration with the Washington Youth Choir.
Dinner and more monument by moonlight picture taking.
Day 4
Early rise for our performance at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School where the US Postal Service held an unveiling tribute of a new stamp for Anna Julia Cooper. There the choir boys sang, The National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing and We Rise Again.
We had free time in the National Mall where some of us visited the either the American History Museum or the Natural History Museum.
Finally, we had a big performance at the Washington National Cathedral where we performed an Evensong, and I got an exclusive view from the top of the central tower (awesomeness!!!).
Day 5
That brings us to the present. We had a fun-filled day at Six Flags.
Later on I’ll try to add photos and what not.
